Here's my beautiful girl Shayli, a black Labrador mix that found us through Pet Save adoptions. She was dumped on a bush road to fend for herself but luckily, someone rescued her and brought her to Pet Save for a second chance at a good life.   We quickly realized that Shayli is a very intelligent and well behaved dog and only six months after being adopted, she passed her temperament test and became a certified member of the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program (Sudbury Chapter) with myself as her handler. As a team, we volunteer at local nursing homes, visiting the sick and the elderly, hoping to make their day a little bit brighter. A year later through St. John Ambulance, Shayli became child tested/certified for the local Dog Bite prevention program (elementary school) and for the Reading Tails program offered at the city of Greater Sudbury Public Library (Valley East Branch). Who would have ever thought that this "disposable" dog could bring so much love, comfort and joy to so many people?
