Custom police dog portrait commissioned by the US Pentagon Police Canine Directorate (USPPD). The Police Canine Division (K-9) is the explosive detection unit for the Department of Defense (DoD) community in and around the Washington D.C. area. This unique artwork hangs inside the US Pentagon and is to be featured on posters and t-shirts made for members of the unit.

Inside the small round crest on the USPPD shield are inscribed the words "Semper Vigilans" which translates from Latin to English as "Always on Watch".

In May of 2010, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet Officer P. Sherman and his k-9 partner Kira at the United States Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The artwork in this photo was presented to Mr. Steven E. Calvery, Director of the US Pentagon Force Protection Agency on behalf of the Police Canine Detection Unit.

Recognize the middle dog on the artwork?

In this photo taken at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, I am seen with Officer P. Sherman and his proud working dog K-9 Kira along with the framed artwork that was presented to Mr. Steven E. Calvery, Director of the US Pentagon Force Protection Agency. Special thank you to Officer Sherman for arranging the meeting and photography.
