Update 1		Update 2
The basic sketch of what will become Hamlet's portrait. The pencil outline has been darkened to make it easier to see.		Hamlet is slowly coming to life as I add the fine hairs on his face. The eyes look different than the mock photo due to the flash in the eyes.
Update 3		Update 4
This cat's beautiful face is almost complete. It sure takes time to add the short individual hairs on the face but the results are well worth the effort. Just wait and see...		When using graphite, it is always a challenge to create single white hairs over dark fur. I use a dull edged point to create  indentations for the whiskers. I then carefully add the darker fur around them.

Hamlet's body is now completely filled in using  pencils of varying hardness. This allows me to create the various shades seen on his coat.		Adding the blanket is the final step to complete this portrait. Doesn't Hamlet look sweet holding his favorite toy?
