Watercolor paint is generally the hardest of mediums to work with and master. The nature of watercolor paint is very transparent when compared to oil or acrylic hence achieving rich dark colors can be challenging. I prefer to use a "dry brush" method in which very little water is mixed with the paint, thereby keeping the pigment as concentrated as possible. I use very fine bristle brushes to paint individual hairs in painstaking detail, a process which may take many weeks for me to complete a single portrait.
