Like all retrievers, Hank loves to swim and fetch sticks in the water.

The rough sketch of what will become Hank's portrait.

Now that I've added the eyes, nose and mouth, this dog drawing is beginning to look like Hank.

The base layer for the facial fur is added but still needs to be darkened slightly.

The head is pretty much completed so now I start to work the wet fur of the dog's neck.

Here I completed the stick and the wet fur of Hank's neck.

The water reflections and ripples are carefully added in as I work on the background.
