		It took some patience but I managed to capture on film this beautiful snow leopard resting in his den. It is the first in a series of snow leopard portraits
		The reference photo here is rather bad. There is the chain link fence in the foreground that forms the blurry white lines. Then, I will be replacing the wooden den from the photo with natural rocks covered in snow for the drawing. That way, the leopard will look like he would be  in this natural habitat.

The pencil outline sketch  is drawn on Arches hot press paper.		I've added the base layer to the background and  subtle color to the eyes and nose.

The fine details of the facial hair are being layered with different grades of pencil.		This snow leopard portrait is slowly coming to life. The face is almost complete.

I've started adding a subtle cream color to the fur.		The foreground is added as  melting snow and rocks .

The last bit of the cat's paw and leg, and the bit of snow in the foreground is now complete. I decided  that darkening the background a bit more would make the cat stand out more.
