Welcome to my pet portrait and animal/wildlife art gallery where you will find samples of pet portraits, tribute and memorial gifts and other animal artwork in a variety of different mediums. Colored Pencil Drawings- I use an assortment of colored pencils sometimes combined with Derwent Graphitint water soluble graphite pencils. Like the traditional graphite portraits, my colored pencil portraits have the same high level of detail but with the vibrancy of added color. These portraits usually take more time to complete than graphite pencil portraits.

Pastel Paintings- The colors of pastel pet portrait paintings are vibrant and pure and each subject has a soft and velvety feel to them. This is a new medium I have discovered and it is much like using colored pencils but with much richer colors that can be layered. I prefer to use suede or velour paper which are of the highest quality pastel papers since the final results are truly amazing.

Watercolor Paintings- My watercolor paintings of pet portraits and wildlife have somewhat softer color than those created in pastels. However, I assure you that none of the detail is left out in my watercolor artwork as it could be in traditional watercolor paintings. This is because I prefer to use a technique called "dry brushing" where very little water is used with the watercolor paints. For example, this enables me to create fine lines that make up the strands of fur with solid color rather than have the impressionistic effect that can result when applying dilute washes (paint mixed with larger quantity of water).

Graphite Pencil Drawings- These highly detailed pencil drawings of pets and animals take quite some time to complete. In each portrait, you can see the individual hairs, from the short velvety fur on the muzzle to the longer body fur, fluffy or stiff, wavy or straight! A very classy portrait in classic tones of black/grey.

Commemorative Artwork- Special projects such as a commemorative portrait is another example of artwork featuring animals. Inspirational art can liven up and beautify an office or home. Each piece is unique and the artwork design is customized to the needs and preference of the client.

Equine, Canine (k9) and Feline Art- I will paint or draw any animal commission that you require. Dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals such as rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils, rabbits and guinea pigs are some examples of cherished pets that make great pet portraits.
